Thehalvesoftwobodies,onebelongingtoafemaleSwedishpolitician,arediscoveredinthemiddleoftheØresundBridge,whichconnectsCopenhageninDenmarkwithMalmöinSweden.Thebody,cutinhalfatthewaist,hasbeenplacedpreciselyontheborderbetweenthecountries,thusfallingunderthejurisdictionofboththeDanishandSwedishpoliceagencies.Afterfurtherexamination,itturnsoutthatthebodyisthatoftwoseparatecorpses,withonehalfbelongingtoaDanishprostitute.SagaNorén,fromtheSwedishside,andMartinRohde,fromtheDanish,leadtheinvestigationtocatchthemurderer.[4][5aaa Theinvestigationquicklyescalatesasajournalist,DanielFerbé,whosecarwasusedinthecrime,beginsreceivingphonecalls.Thecaller,whobecomesknownasthe"TruthTerrorist",claimstobecommittinghiscrimesinordertodrawattentiontovarioussocialproblems.Asocialworker,StefanLindberg,whosesisterbecomesavictimoftheTruthTerrorist,becomesanearlysuspect.However,eventssoonleadtheDanishandSwedishteamstoconcludethatthekillerhasconnectionstothepolice.Theydiscoverthatthecrimeshavebeenplannedoveraperiodofseveralyears.ThetraileventuallyleadsthemtoJens,aDanishpolicemanandformerclosefriendofMartin's,whowasthoughttohavecommittedsuicideafteranaccidentonthebridgecausedthedeathsofhiswifeandson.
